The Northeast Vikings for friendship club would like to remind everyone to find opportunities to show and do random acts of kindness today. The national random acts of kindness day is tomorrow February 17.Th and to celebrate, your VFF has put together a small activity for students to enjoy during their fourth period class this morning. The NE PE department is sponsoring a Doubles Paddleton tournament to raise funds for our NE PE program. There will be a one day tournament for the 8th grade and NE Staff on Tuesday March 12th (winners will play each other) and a one day tournament for the 6th and 7th graders on Thursday March 14th (winners will play each other). The entry fee is $20 per doubles team and the tournament will start promptly at 3:15 on each of the respective dates. No spectators will be allowed due to limited space. If you are interested in participating, please pick up a registration form in the NE main office. The registration form and payment can be turned into Coach Griff or Coach Merchant. If you have any questions please contact Coach Merchant or Coach Griff.

Student Drop-Off & Pickup- Important Reminders!
The FRONT of the school building is reserved for SCHOOL BUS drop-off and pickup only between 7:30-8:00am and 2:40-3:10pm. Please drop your student off in the back of the building during these times.
Rules for dropping off in the back are:
The left lane is a moving lane. Do not stop and drop off your student while in the left lane.
The right lane is the drop-off lane. Pull over and stop and let your student out. Please DO NOT park and exit your vehicle in this lane.
VPA Thank you
The VPA would like to thank our NE families for the wonderful donations for the sunshine cart. The treats were much appreciated and enjoyed by the staff. There was an outpouring of appreciation as the treats were delivered with many comments of "this made my day." Thank you so much for the support you show for our teachers and staff.
Paddleton Challenge- NE PE Fundraiser

Parents and caregivers, TMPONE and the Orchestra Instructors would like to give a giant thank you to all the volunteers who helped with String Clinic. Your presence and assistance really helped the event to run smoothly and provide the best experience for our music students. Thank you for taking time out of your day to be there to support our music program, students, and instructors!
Battle of the Books
The Grace A Dow library is running a Middle School Battle of the Books program again this year…and you are invited to participate as an individual or with a partner!
Five books have been selected for the competition. There are 4 copies of each book available in the Media Center, and and even more at Grace A. Dow Memorial Library
Like last year, battles will conclude with an in-person championship battle. All battles will take place in April.
We encourage any interested NMS students to participate in this great program!

Food Allergen Change
There has been an ingredient change to the hamburger and hotdog buns offered at school lunches. The buns now contain Milk, Wheat, Soy and Sesame.
Attention all upcoming 8th grade football players. There will be voluntary conditioning for those interested. The conditioning will be from 3-4pm in the back gym. Wear tennis shoes for
this. The dates for this are listed below. See Coach Hanley for any questions.

Fines for Chromebook Labels
If either the asset tag from the back or the large student information tag from the front is removed or defaced a $5 fine will be issued for each label. If either label is peeling or fading, report this to the office or library so a replacement can be ordered.

Announcements are read to students during 3rd hour and sent to students district email daily.
Parents receive announcements in their email on the first day of the school week.
Announcements are updated daily on the Northeast website under the “Building Announcements” tab.
As always, please encourage your students to have everything they need before leaving for school each day. If they do forget something feel free to drop it off in the office. If your student contacts you and asks you to bring an item, please let them know you will bring it and that they should check the office between classes or before lunch. The office does not call classrooms for forgotten items, but will email your student's teachers if needed. This could result in a delivery delay.
The Rock- After-school programs
The ROCK is a productive after-school program that instills confidence and a sense of belonging, provide mentorship, tutors, games, activities, food, and a safe place for teens. Welcoming middle and high school students aged 18 and under.
Teens check-in with staff and relax with their snack while the rest of their peers arrive. Each day, various planned activities are offered, including physical activity, homework and tutoring, crafts, and other games. The ROCK is a drop-in program, meaning your student can leave when it makes sense for your family. All participants must be pre-registered. We are open from the time school is out until 6:00 pm each school day.
Snow Days The ROCK in-person sites will NOT be open for snow days.
PD Days The ROCK Underground will be open each Professional Development day 8:00 am-6:00 pm. No busing available. Drop-in.
Half Days ROCK Underground will be open after school.
